Workout
my body inspires my mind
Super Bowl? Ummm...no...not for me...
This weekend has been a marriage of my mind and body. I have been developing a hightened sense of body awareness this year and it has increased my self awareness of my intellect and my creativity.
After sitting in a cramped up car for 6 hours today, I needed to move around. While scarfing down food by myself, I grabbed the first book that was in my sight, The Viewpoints Book, by Anne Bogart anad Tina Landau. I wont go into too much depth, but this is the kind of book that is like my recipie book for composition. It's just genius. All around simple, logical, an natural.
Essentially it's a guide to theatre making in a collaborative ensemble format with:
Surrender, Possibility, Choice and Freedom, Growth, and Wholeness
The development process is designed all around collective work that is generated from organic movement.
They use warm ups like standing in a circle and doing 12 synched sun salutations that gradually speed up and have collective breath in btw.
Anways...so it was a like a reminder to me. I want to be teaching movement techniques to actors, I want to use movement as my inspiration for my directing- for my composition. I love to work collaboratively.
I put the book down to research classes, and to my surprise SITI company (the main company that this stufft is all about) is having a five week four day a week wkshop next month. I'm going to apply for it, and hopefully get a slot. This would rock my world. Tues-Fri for five weeks 10am-2pm stomping around in leggings for my own professional edification.
To celebrate that I'll be applying i took candle lit yoga at Vida and stretch out the long car ride for 70 mins.
Tmrw, I'm getting up early. Nobody gets famous by sleeping late. By early...I mean...at a normal person hour.

Sounds really cool, Sass.... performed in a show last spring at Castillo that used viewpoints and parkour in the devising of the the play, playing with Muller's Hamletmachine. I found it challenging (but in a good way???) Hope you get in...
