Once again, trying not to fall off the treadmill.
That's what happens when you schedule your gym time around The Office and 30 Rock. Hilarity.
Eat Wild #3 & #4
I juiced some carrots this morning and had all this awesome pulp leftover, so I made carrot pulp burgers.
I ate them for lunch and dinner! Bam, two eat wild meals today. For lunch I had two with an apple and a little trail mix of walnuts, almonds, and raisins. For dinner I had another two with some edamame and a sweet potato. Super yum.

Hurdle after Hurdle
Where have I been? Well, thanks to Saturday's sprained wrist incident, I was lying low on Monday and trying to let my body heal when BAM I got hit with food poisoning. Seriously? Two major obstacles in one week? Let's just say I was in no shape to work out Tuesday. Tonight I was feeling 80% confident that I could make it through a run without crapping my pants, so I went for it.

Maintenance and Eat Wild #2
Felt I should forego my training run today because I sprained my wrist over the weekend (long story and also proof that working out regularly has not improved my coordination enough to make me less of klutz). Thanks to said injury I was extremely exhausted and in some pain today, so I decided to push my four miles to tomorrow and give my body a little extra time to mend itself.
Eat Wild Meal #1
I know, it took me awhile to getting around to these meals. I actually eat almost all unprocessed foods all the time, but every meal I was making, something was tripping me up. Mostly that I rely a lot on canned beans during the work week. But I made a giant batch of lentil stew from scratch today, so here's my first totally unprocessed meal!

Ten Miles in the SUNSHINE!
What a perfect day for a run! Most of the snow on the roads has melted, and I had to do a bit of ice-dodging but nothing major. I made a rockin' playlist before heading out and then just totally got in the zone and enjoyed this first little hint of spring.

Review: Jillian's Yoga Meltdown, Level 1

Now you all know I love me some Jillian. I have read all her books, own all her DVDs (except for this one, which I tried out for free this morning compliments of Exercise TV), and have listened to the entire backlogs of her radio show dating back to 2006 (and even have them all backed up on my external hard drive, just in case). I credit her with helping me lose the last 10 of the 40 extra pounds I used to lug around, and with giving me the kick in the pants I needed to get all the fake nastiness out of my diet. I get a ton of crap from my friends for beginning a good percentage of my sentences with, "Well, Jillian says..." I am an unashamed fangirl.

All Around Awesome Running Experience
So here's the story:
Awhile ago I discovered that one of my childhood best friends (the height of our relationship was probably around age 7) was now training for a half marathon and blogging about the experience through our local newspaper's website. I briefly found this interesting and then forgot about it.

4 miles of SPEED
My speed workouts are getting easier and easier, which I think means I need to up the intensity sometime soon! Did 4 miles this morning in 36:30, which is roughly a 9:08 mile average. Not too shabby, although I do think I'm underestimating myself when I set the speed on the treadmill. I run so much faster than that in races!

Tonight I tried out one of the Yoga to the People podcasts I'd never done before. I love love love these podcasts. They're high quality, easy to follow, challenging to both body and mind... This one had me sweating and shaking at one point, and I even attempted a bind I'd never before tried. (I won't say I succeeded at said bind, but it's a step.) All in all, the best hour of my day.

First day of the challenge, woot! Did a 4 mile treadmill workout that looked like this:
First 1/2 mile, warm up at 6.0 mph and no incline. Next 2.5 miles, stayed at 6.0 but did pyramid intervals with the incline.
0-1-2-3-2-1-0
1-2-3-4-3-2-1-0
1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1-0
Then took the incline off and did a 1/2 mile at 6.5 and finished with the last 1/2 mile at 7.0.

Detox yoga
Just finished Detox Yoga #2 from Yoga Downloads. I had never done this one before, and I liked it -- there was a nice challenging, active pigeon pose in there, and that's usually more of a relaxing, stretching posture for me, so it surprised me! I always like to be surprised by my yoga practice. :) And it was pretty much just what I need after yesterday's long run and in preparation of...
