  • Today I ran 8 miles. 8 miles is a big deal for me and really only happened because I was just not excited about slogging it out at my slow pace so I threw in lots of sprints which made it a million times more interesting and distracted me from the overall distance... woo hoo! I am totally excited about those 8 miles. Then when I came home did a bunch of reps for the 1000s. I didn't do many push-ups though because I am going climbing tonight and didn't want to burn out my arms too since my legs are a little jello-y I need to be able to keep myself on the wall somehow!

  • Oh yeah. Climbing with the new shoes. Rocking. Really it was just what I needed after a super craptastic day.

  • Today was great. Started with Boot Camp on the bridge, then yummy joe's coffee and the green market, then home to go to the Flea with the fella.... and then loads more wandering.

  • Once in a blue moon, my workout doesn't knock out the beginning stages of wallowing after a bad day. Tonight was one of those nights, my slight wallow was blown into a full on pity party by the end of what was a really good, solid workout.
My points for the night come coming home and instead of saying f'it, and eating crap I made my favorite quickie healthy meal. In my fridge, there is always frozen broccoli, eggs and salsa. Always, so I never have an excuse. My meal goes like this : first you put a little salsa in the bottom of a shallow bowl, then the cooked broccoli, topped with 2 egg whites and one whole egg scrambled on top and voila! It isn't so exciting but a good, filling meal with protein and veggies and takes less then ten minutes. Nice.

    • C J. thanks for the recipe! i will def try it next time i am lazy about cooking. 2 years ago

  • So tonight was another new gym for me in my away from home life thanks to a buywithme.com deal... It was a nice gym but because it is 25 years old it is stuffed into this space that must have once been a rowhome - all of these tiny rooms with little winding stairways connecting them. Sort of odd but my pet peeve is that they CHARGE for towels! Oh man I hate that, but since I looked so agast at that they gave me one comp tonight - a couple of points back for that. So I finally made my way to a treadmill and did a 40 minute interval routine - it was great. Oh man I am an endorphin junkie these days! Then off the the weight room where I did a arm/ab routine.... which admittedly might not have been the best idea for my slightly sore arms from climbing the other day but what can I say? I think working my arms will make climbing easier? After that, back to the treadmill to round out my cardio for a 10 minute fast run. Then I decided to check out the basement area that had the weight machines, and there I found my FAVORITE thing! Down there was this crazy room that you had to enter through this weird hobbit sized door that had TRX, a bar, a punching dummy and medicine balls, step up things... and not a single other soul in it. So then I did some donkey kicks at the bar, some pullup-kind of thing on the TRX, some plyo things with the medicine ball.... then some dude came in and in trying to move my spread out stuff, I realized I had forgotten my water bottle and locker key at the treadmill and ran off. Dude thought it was because of him but it wasn't at all. I am totally starting in that little room tomorrow!

    • Christine N. What place was this that has a TRX setup that doesn't require it to only be used during class? (The only other place I know is Brooklyn Boulders) 2 years ago
    • Sassletic W. Crunch used to have a towel deposit of $1. You'd get the dollar back when you returned the towel. That was super weird. I guess people were stealing the towels back in the day. Eek. I always think it's weird going to gyms and seeing people bringing there own towels with them. I guess that's what the yoga studios do... 2 years ago
    • Christine N. I'm actually surprised nowadays when I see a yoga studio that includes mat/towel costs with the class fee. But a typical gym doing it is just... weird... 2 years ago
    • Maggie H. It is WEIRD at a gym, yoga studio I get, but at a gym where there is profuse sweating? Gyms should really be pushing towels on everyone, since that isn't the case at this place, I was super vigilant about wiping down the bench both BEFORE and after I used it and tonight I brought a towel! 2 years ago

  • Today was the modeling event. I went to boot camp before so that I could get a workout in before I went to the craziness.... It wasn't nearly as weird an event as I thought it would be and they gave out a great goodie bag. Gotta love that!
After the photos, Ariane measured me. Turns out I lost almost 5% of body fat in 7 weeks, lost 10 pounds of pure fat and lost 4" off my waist. I feel AMAZING and so proud of those numbers. YAY! The funny part is that I really plan on keeping it up since I have a little bit further to go...
But for tonight I am toasting my effort with a yummy cocktail!

  • My ipod died today. This makes me VERY, VERY sad, well that and the bad 90's pop that the gym played tonight while I worked out. Treadmill sprinting just wasn't the same but I slogged through 35 minutes before doing a full body circuit routine.
It is funny how much music really fuels my workouts....I am really going to have to figure out a solution to my ipod's death soon because tonight was brutal without it!

    • Sassletic W. this sad face! 2 years ago

    • von Hottie v. I guess you don't have an iPhone that can be your ipod? 2 years ago

thefatbridesmaid m. RIP Ipod! Music does make a difference in workouts!! (PS- if you're looking for a quick/less expensive option - I bought a shuffle and have been pretty happy with it. its small. cheaper. you can still have playlists. and it talks to you) 2 years ago
    • Maggie H. It talks to you? What does it say??? The shuffle definitely might be in my future though since I really don't think I can manage too many more music-less workouts! 2 years ago
