Catch-up for Tuesday since I forgot to log it in.
So I have been sick and hacking up a lung for a week. Tonight I was tired of wallowing in my sickness and my cough seemed to be gone during the day at least... so off to the gym I went. I ran on the treadmill, did some speed intervals and hill climbs. Slow and painful but I did it and it did make me feel a little better. Then I disinfected my machine like a crazy person - I didn't want to be an asshole and spread the evil crud. Not a workout to really be proud of but it was something.
Today, I ran my first race ever, the Brooklyn Half-Marathon. Crossing the finish line was awesome and totally inspiring. I never knew I could push myself so far and I am really proud of making it to the end! I just looked it up and damn, apparently I finished in 2:23 and was 374 in my age range.... uhm yeah that is much better then I thought!
Tonight I went to the gym and realized that while I brought my running shoes, I did NOT bring any exercise clothes. I was so annoyed at myself. I repacked my bag, got up and walked back to my apartment a full 1.5 miles away. I changed into the workout clothes still laid out on the bed and grabbed my bag again and promptly walked back to the gym. SO while those 3 miles don't count as anything but an ode to my packing foolishness, I was really impressed that I DID go back.
I ran three miles on the treadmill, did a bunch of sprints, a hand full of stuff for the 1000's, and even though it was only 45 minutes, I still feel damn good about it.
Then I walked home, made dinner and while it cooked had a much deserved cocktail.
Tonight I used one of my fitness deals to start a month membership by my work. It was exactly what I needed in a week that will just get more stressful to the big events on Friday. I did one of Ariane's HIIT treadmill workouts and then some reps for the 1000's for good measure and it radically changed my mood - oh happy workout endorphins how I needed you today.
Today I ran 8 miles. 8 miles is a big deal for me and really only happened because I was just not excited about slogging it out at my slow pace so I threw in lots of sprints which made it a million times more interesting and distracted me from the overall distance... woo hoo! I am totally excited about those 8 miles. Then when I came home did a bunch of reps for the 1000s. I didn't do many push-ups though because I am going climbing tonight and didn't want to burn out my arms too since my legs are a little jello-y I need to be able to keep myself on the wall somehow!
