Sunday funday on a beautiful day in NYC. I went for a 20 min run, apparently at a very quick pace. I don't believe it, but I did my 20 min.
THEN I went to the gym to do some upper body and ab work. My gym is around the corner from my apt, which is great, and I like this system of enjoying the outside and then making use of a gym that I pay for. Success!
I forgot! I DID work out on vacation! 2 mile+ run on the boardwalk on Saturday. Before I decided to spend my mornings reading on the porch :)
Back from a lovely, lazy vacation! I am behind in my 10k training but had built in extra time, so now I basically have combined 1 week into 2, and I had an extra 3 weeks in. So I'm fine. I think.
Not only have I returned to NYC, but I have also returned to the world of the iPhone! After a treacherous 4 months, I am back and decided to try one of the run tracking apps I see people use. I discovered 2 interesting things- the route that I thought was 3 miles us actually closer to 3.5, and my natural pace outside is faster than what I do on the treadmill. Lessons all around! I did 3 miles in the park, only stopped once (it's too hot for inclines) and made up for the distance walked so I actually ran the full 3. And I don't feel like dying! Success.
Evening cardio workout. At first I thought it was going to be the first time I was unsuccessful in my 10k training, but then I got into my girls' storyline (aka the Real Housewives of OC) and I made it through!
After mismanaging my time for much of the day (or, really, weekend), I made it to an evening workout. I did the required amount of cardio at s quicker speed. 3 weeks of the 10K training plan done!
Today I did my first outdoor run. Saturdays are the long run days- today was 3 miles. As I had suspected, it is harder to run outside. I ran along the river (and, gross, the highway) up to 125th and back. Ran most of it, a little walking, but I'm pretty sure with all of the ins and outs of the path, it's more like 3.25 or 3.5 miles. I'm going to try to do at least one day of running outside, to get used to it more.
Cardio today after 2 days off. It's not as easy to motivate when I'm not on vacation as I thought. Or rather, I knew that would happen. I have to remember that I need to work out in the morning, as I can talk myself out of working out after work very easily.
Workout with the trainer this morning. Noticing some good changes in posture on certain exercises. In unrelated news, I don't want to go to work today.
Round 2, week 1 begins, at the same time as I return to work. Too much sangria for my bff's birthday yesterday meant I missed working out this morning, but I made it to the gym this evening. 20 minute run, picking up the pace. Felt pretty solid for the end of the day, though something feels a little wonky with my back. Again, gallons of sangria probably didn't help!
