First workout since last Sunday's marathon. Gorgeous sunny day. Easy 4.25 mile run in 43'31". Legs felt really good and I kind of didn't want to stop running. All of the marathon guides say to take it easy those first few weeks after the marathon, so I am trying to be good and listen to the pros. What a difference from Monday when I could barely walk down any stairs.

Pittsburgh Marathon! 26.2 miles in 5 hours, 2 minutes and 56 seconds. No injuries, and didn't want to give up at any point. Way sunnier (the course had very little shade) and warmer (60° at the start, 74°F at the finish) than I would have liked, so I played it safea and ended up getting gatorade and water at every fluid station. I walked through each fluid station and didn't stop otherwise (not even on the hills), except to say hi to my family and friends. Great race. I was sooo close to my goal of 5 hours. This makes me want to register for another marathon and break through that 5 hour mark.

2 miles on the treadmill in 18:45. Resting for the next 2 days to prepare for the Pittsburgh Marathon. Goal of 4:45, but would really be happy with anything under 5 hours.

Longest run in my marathon training. Was really dreading it, but it went better than expected. Knees, hips and feet are sore, but otherwise ok. 20 miles in 3:45.

LONG 18.2 mile run along the Hudson. Felt really good for the first 2.5 hours. Then it started to drizzle. The last 3 miles were really hard and it was a struggle for me not to give up. While I didn't make the full 19 miles that I was scheduled for (hamstrings started cramping on the STEEP hill at mile 18.2), I'm proud that I didn't stop at all during those 3 hours and 19 minutes. Hoping that I can do the full 20 miles (nonstop) that's on tap in 2 weeks.

A little cooler today for my run around Central Park after work. It seems that I run faster when it's cooler out. 5.71 miles in 55:13. So very sore from yesterday's Pilates class, but in a good way.

Haven't been going to Pilates as often as I'd like, so went to a Level 2 class at lunch. Didn't think I'd make it through the class, had to cheat at times and modify some of the poses. Ran around Central Park (took the 102nd St transverse to avoid the hilly northern part of the park) and loved seeing all of the flowers and trees in bloom. 5.71 miles in 58 minutes.

Morning run of 4.96 miles in 51:13. Chilly this morning, but nice and sunny. All the warm weather of late has spoiled me. Took me a while to get warmed up, but once I did, I think I prefer running in 30° to 70°.

Long run from Hoboken up to Port Imperial along the Hudson River. 13.69 miles in 2:26. Felt pretty good for the first 2 hours, but the last 25 minutes were pretty slow going. Nice quiet evening at home. Finally got around to doing laundry and going through my mail.
