Personal Goals
Did 10 minutes on the rowing machine, 15 minutes on the treadmill, and walked 35 from the bus before the gym and to the grocery store after.
It looks like I'm not going to hit my goals in the November Thousands, since I've been so busy with school and teaching that I seem to have lost most of my motivation. But I will say that having a goal, and keeping track of these exercises made me do them when I wouldn't have done them otherwise- so thank you for that, November Thousands.
I tried a new class today: Reggae dance workout! It was pretty fun, half reggae, half soca. We even did a move called the Scooby Doo. I'm glad I was "accidentally" at the gym right outside the studio when the class was about to start.
Before the class, I was doing my usual: sit-ups, etc. After class, I did some more of my usual: arm exercises. I was a little warn out from the class, so I didn't quite get to where I usually do with pull-ups, etc. But I was still working hard.
dips: 30 (assisted, of course)
Took a step class that had no "routines," but did make us move until it hurt.
30 dips plus various other back and arm exercises.
Today was the first time I ever had a personal trainer, and I hope it's not the last. I went for the "orientation" at NYSC - aka "I'm a personal trainer and I want to take your money" - and it went well. Being a poor grad student who didn't get her fellowship money this semester because of paperwork issues, I can't give him any, at least not now. But it was nice for someone to say, "This is the right way to use this machine." And now I have something to work on for the next few months until I get my hands on that money and might have the possibility of visiting Seamus again. We worked on upper body training today, something that I don't really exercise, honestly. My muscles are so weak that after two sets of pull-ups, I felt a bit queazy. But I was glad to target this area so I know how to make my arms and back stronger on my own.
And thanks to the November Thousands for reminding me that arm muscles are important, too!
I think I'm going to feel this in the morning!
Calf raises: 100
