Huge comeback! By 6:30PM yesterday, after a week, more or less, of zero exercise and bad living, I rallied! Picked up rainbow chard, beets, organic carrots, shallots, etc. at the earthy crunchy market. Make it to the gym and get lucky to arrive just as a spin class was starting. And there's room. Blammo, I'm in, and suddenly grooving to my new favorite song by Foster the People, and also a classic by Culture Club. (What is "Miss Me Blind," or "It's a Miracle?" Regardless, I'm grateful for Culture Club.) Managed some pushups and situps to get on the board for the 1,000s, and then home to cook up the greens and reds, and (naturally) to clean my entire apartment, and answer all outstanding emails, and make travel plans, etc..
Crazy what a bit of cardio will do for you. Count it.

9PM to local Equinox, for a spin on the elliptical (in front of wall of TVs), and then picking up steam with pushups (75), situps (100), squats, curls, dips, pullups.... Sounds more impressive than it was, but it did the trick. Count it!

Late yoga with Alex on Wednesday. That was my first real exercise since the previous Thursday. This is what house guests will do for you. It's amazing how a small perturbance can destroy one's routine and send one spinning downward into sloth and lethargy. Also amazing how quickly you can rebound!

Transmitting via SW mobile from Jivamukti cafe where I am communing with a "Truth" smoothies post Rima class. The amount that I sweat in these classes should be the subject of advanced research. Defense department. The amount that I love this smoothie could be the subject of theological inquiry. Right now I'm toasting everyone on Social Workout who filed any minutes if exercise. We few, we merry band of sweaters. This blueberry, almond butter, banana, agave, and soymilk is for you!

Late yoga with Alex at YW Soho. He asked us to introduce ourselves to someone we didn't know. Very nice. That makes for a more social workout. It was a little distracting too, though, because it opens a relationship with the person who is, like, 6 inches away from you, and so now you're thinking about them even more than normal as you sweat and breathe and lose your balance. Crowded yoga is very intimate, and sort of relies on the ilusion that noone is paying attention to each other, I think. But sometimes not paying attention is hard....

First SPIN class of the fall/winter season on Sunday. Exhausting. Loved it. Given hurt toe situation, and inability to run for a while, I'm determined to become a regular spinner again. Need to find my teachers.
After, I had a green juice at the new juice place inside Equinox Soho. Goodbye old "Wichcraft," hello "Juice Generation." I approve, even if the prices remain outrageous. Still, drinking the green post spin was a nice antidote to unhealthy evening spent with big brother the night before.

Saturday's workout was a special one: An outdoor yoga class taught by Kevin and Dana Courtney of Kula Yoga fame. Kevin led us through some fun Qigong exercises, which involved bouncing on our feet, with loose limbs, and occasionally making strange sounds. (Say the word "hung" without opening your mouth while contracting your diaphragm sharply.) While we were doing this, a small dog name Milosz ran among us. Lovely. And healthy. Count it.
