Back on track with food logging. I've been off the wagon for a couple of weeks. I was really tired all day Monday, but I still managed to walk to & from work. I was so tired that I took a nap on my lunch break. I felt a bit more energetic in the evening, but then I accidentally slept through boot camp this morning. Oops. Unfortunately I don't have time to get in a workout; I've got work and then I'm taking a class that starts today. But tomorrow is another day!
Still haven't gotten my test results back from the new doctor. I know she got my lab results on Friday morning, but I guess she never reviewed them, and then wasn't in Monday. I haven't had too much pain the last few days, but I would still really, really like to know what's wrong with me and start doing something about it. Any time now. Really, go right ahead.

Took a short walk around the neighborhood this morning. In my mind I was running swift and free. I've got some bad muscle and joint pain this week, and after Thursday's boot camp I was in bad shape. One of the effects of my autoimmune disease is that I have pain sometimes. No one has ever been able to explain why. It's not a terribly rare side effect of thyroiditis, but it isn't explained well by thyroiditis, so doctors tend to sort of throw up their hands. It's not the kind of pain you have after a hard workout. I get lots of knots, but I'm so sensitive I can't stand massage, and my fingers, hips, knees, shoulders, etc. get really sore even though they don't show any inflammation. I developed a theory this time around. The immune attack on the thyroid slows metabolism, everything from digestion to heartbeat slows way down. So maybe it's just that lactic acid metabolism has slowed down so much that it isn't being removed from my muscles fast enough, and is causing more tearing than normal. That would explain the giant knots, anyway. And the joint pain could just be a result of the exhausted muscles not supporting the joints and straining them a little. Pain relievers are not much help, and between being unnaturally tired and unnaturally sore, frankly I just haven't been very active. I'm trying not to be totally bummed out. I'm still waiting for my doctor to call with the lab results and see if we are going to up the dose on the thyroid hormone. That seemed to help last time.

Discovered on a backpacking blog, and tested in real life: a dollar store Shamwow knockoff (mine was just called a "Wow!") make a nice, compact gym towel.
It's been a rough couple of weeks. Long bout with a virus. Terrible sleep. Stress. Overeating. Blood tests. Bah. Today I'm feeling like I'm finally coming around to getting back on track to being health & happy. In spite of a busy morning, I managed to put together a healthy breakfast from a gas station, which I think is a pretty good accomplishment (although has anyone else noticed that gas station food is improving? They have like, fruit and vegetables at all the nicer truck stops these days. It's like they're *trying* to keep me away from the Snickers and cappucino).

No exercise today. I hate this cold! Currently "taking the cure"-- chopped garlic and jalapeño peppers steeped in hot water. I ALWAYS turn to this remedy to clear out the overnight congestion of a cold-- the peppers are mildly expectorant and the garlic is good for what ails ya, plus you can actually taste it. It also is great for burning off fuzzmouth. If I just had some ginger for pain I'd be set.

Walked four miles with my mom and her poodle on Saturday. Went to my high school reunion, where everyone who still lives in the area said, "Hey! I see your mom running every day. Even in the rain!" My mom is pleased to hear that everybody knows how hardcore she is. The poodle is just happy to run.
