Liz C.: Doing Dips Log

Updates
  • I hope cleaning the kitchen counts as decluttering...I did round up that dozen or so water glasses that were cluttering my bedside table and the coffee mugs that were gathered around the computer....and the tupperwares from my purses...that should count right?

Yoga this morning was more stretching than a workout, but it was by the teacher I really like so she must have had a reason for such a laid back class. After it I ran 3 miles in 24.30 with some sprinting sessions, but I don't know how many meters...i'm not sure how to measure that.

  • We started a new boxing routine that was SO HARD! Ugh. My arms, abs and hip flexors were beyond burning. They just weren't working. I can normally power through and do everything for the full amount of time, even if I have to slow down, but this time I flat out stopped to catch my breath. Wow. But it was such a good class and I felt so loose and happy afterwards. It was exactly the challenge I needed and it provides a good goal/measuring stick to work against.

After class I chatted with the boxing instructor as we ran. I did a smidge over 4 miles.

  • I was lazy and metroed to the gym for TRX and because of track maintance and elevator outages I was almost late to class! Lesson learned -- run to the gym. I ran home though and it was looooovely. Then I took a 2.5 hour nap -- count that!

  • I tried to do more dips and superheroes but I am always surprised at how hard they are!

Liz C. You know, when you lay on your stomach and lift your arms and legs up at the same time. I think they are called swimmers sometimes? 2 years ago
    • Christine N. It's supposed to be called a superman, but I assume this was to be more gender neutral considering we're mostly gals here. :) You basically look like Superman flying on the ground. 2 years ago

  • Okay you guys. It is time for me to get serious here on these thousands. Clearly the exercise elves are not going to do them for me, so I will have to take the initiative and do my own donkey kicks and dips. I went to the gym early specifically so I could knock out some of this nonsense before TRX. Two hundred donkey kicks, 25 dips (on a bench) and some other "light" strengthening (I forgot about those superheroes, drat!) before TRX might have been a mistake bc class was epically difficult – but in a good way (I guess). Class included some situps and pushups, which are so much more difficult with my feet in the straps than on the floor.

I also chugged through a six mile run after class, which surprised me because I was so miserably tired when I started. I wasn't going to run, just walk on a hill, but felt self-conscious when the trainers started arriving for the day and gave me funny looks that said: Why are you walking? Are you injured? I was too embarrassed to be like, Nooo, I'm just a lazy bones today. So I picked up the pace. I still ran about a minute slower per mile than usual. Eventually I found that nice, comforting running rhythm I love so much and before I knew it, I'd gone six miles and was feeling more energetic.

    • Christine N. Six miles after all that?? You're a rockstar! 2 years ago
