Fraidy L.: Doing Dips Log

Updates
  • National bike to work day. It meant there was free breakfast when I got off the bridge. Also that there were so many more bikers than usual.

  • I was supposed to take Bi-Polar today. Marc was teaching hip hop (the class before bi-polar), but I guess he had to leave early for something because Brooke was teaching. I wasn't in the mood for that. So I went upstairs to work on the thousands. I met Marc there stretching. Then I also met Buffin foam rolling. We had a chat about SW, thousands, and the upcoming trainer vs trainer challenge. I didn't get too far with the thousands, but at least I got my first dips done.

  • I was all bundled up for the bike ride this morning and I was dressed too warmly. Except for my toes, they were freezing. Good thing I realized I had an extra pair of socks when I got to the gym. The way back home was fine.

  • First session with my new trainer. I still can't believe they convinced me to sign up for this. I feel like I just ended a long term relationship and now I'm starting a new one too soon...His name is Anthony. It was a good session. His style was different than Krystal's and it will take some getting used to.

  • It only takes 6 minutes to bike from my school to Crunch Lafayette. The subway takes 15 minutes. I also took diesel with Catherine who was subbing for Marc again.

  • I haven't been taking as much yoga since Jess stopped teaching the Monday class and Krystal noticed a difference. She said I should be taking the class with Carl. But I took yoga yesterday and this morning I wasn't in the mood for a 90-minute class and I don't really like Carl's class. So I didn't go there and took STAR Treatment instead.

  • Locks do not like me today. I got blisters after trying 10 minutes to open the lock on my bike because the dial wouldn't turn. After finally opening it I immediately threw it out and went to buy a new one. Tried it out when I got home and the combination won't open. Whatever. Onto my workout. Biked to the gym today. Started with MHC. I told Marc about the bike tour so he decided I should choose the cardio setting on the treadmill today and follow that. I never tried any of those settings. I had to enter all my info and then have to run while it monitors my heart rate and keeps it at a certain level. It doesn't go higher than a 4.5 which is good because I was able to run steady for most of it, and the incline changes on its own. The only annoying thing was I had to keep holding on to the sensors. BodyArt was good. We did a couple stretches. I didn't stay for spin because I had biked there. When I passed Prospect Park on my way home I decided to do a loop to add more miles to my ride because I haven't biked in the last 2 weeks (not good). Most of it was fine but I had to walk the big hill because by that point my legs didn't want to move anymore. Total biking: 18 miles. The fact that I couldn't go further is not a good sign but it might be because I had 2 workouts yesterday and took 2 classes today. My average time this morning when I got to the gym was 11.27 mph but by the time I got home it dropped to 10.89 mph. I really need to work on that.

  • Now that I am finally on the plane, I can post yesterday's workout. Even though I doubt I'll work out at all, I took workout clothes with me. They didn't fit in my carry on (since they started charging for luggage I only take carry on) so I had to take them in my backpack. I think just taking them counts for something. But anyway, yesterday's workout. I don't remember much about it except my shoulders are sore today so there was probably a lot of shoulder work. Mile High Club was hard, running inclines. I have a fear of treadmills on inclines. Marc laughs about it but I literally freak out because I'm scared of flying off. So I walked a lot but I made it to 2 miles by running intervals of 7.2. TRX. I remember doing some new exercises, but can't remember what they were right now. Buff Yoga was really sweaty. I wonder if they ever wash the mats at Lafayette Crunch because they always stink. I had to put the weights down at a certain point in this class. My unlimited metrocard expired on Tuesday and since I'm off to LA now for a week I wasn't going to buy a new one which means all additional stops I had to make yesterday I was walking to. After the gym I had to return something at Century 21. Walking down Broadway I stopped into SW HQ to say hi. Oliver and VonHottie were taking their pushup stretch break. I did not join along but it was fun to see them. Oh, and Oliver is growing a beard.
