  • no thursday workout. instead i went to see the america's got talent auditions. when a 76 yr old guy came on, pulled off his robe and wearing the tiniest hot pink briefs started flexing his muscles as his talent, i thought i probably should've just gone to the gym instead. we just happened to get a really bad crop of talent, like the guy who ate a pumpkin pie in under 90 secs, and the guy who claimed he was auditioning to take over nick cannon's job as host...whatever.

  • The group fitness room at Crunch Union Sq is getting a facelift and all the mirrors were torn down. But classes were still going on. I only did TRX today. Nothing extra. Rachel is subbing while Marc is away. She is ok. We did a lot of new things (for me at least), she focused a lot on the chest, and for some reason only did half pullups. I guess she doesn't think we're strong enough to do the real TRX pullups.

  • I got to the gym just in time to get the last spot in spin class, but once again when I got to the room there were no bikes. funny thing happened, sign up sheet was brought in, every name read, and when they finished the entire thing there was one bike left in the corner-with a towel on it, but no one claimed it. so that was mine. it was the WORST spot because i couldn't see anything, except the guy right in front of me. As I was trying to copy his pace I came to the realization that the class isn't challenging for me anymore...I never thought I would say this, but I want a tougher spin class.

    • Fraidy L. @alison i take a lot of classes. most of them are with marc. if you read my posts you can probably get a good idea of who i like/dislike, but my general gym schedule is like this: mon-vinyasa, jess (union sq), tue-spin, tomas (union sq), wed-trx, marc (union sq), thurs-diesel, marc (lafayette), fri-bodyart, marc and spin, tomas both at lafayette, sat is my day off, and sunday is AGY with ilaria and stacey at fort greene. 2 years ago

  • Jess was out again today. I was thinking he might've stopped teaching it (in the last few months he dropped a lot of the classes he used to teach), but then I met his friend Suzi who comes to all his classes. She said he came last week, the one time that I had to miss, and the other times he was sick, or something else came up. Now he went to India with Marc. But that means that he's still teaching it. Yay! Carl was subbing again. I don't have anything against Carl. I tried the class with him once and it was really good, but it's a slow paced class, and I get bored really easily. So instead I went to Lafayette to see who was subbing STAR treatment figuring as a last resort I'd go running or something. The sub was Jay. I have never heard of him, or seen him before, so I decided to give it a try. He joked that he likes the old days when students gave teachers presents like apples. A girl seriously went to her bag and got him an apple! The spin segment of the class was short and not really difficult. He is very particular about form, and pointed out a couple people when we were doing squats and things. He didn't say anything about my form so I guess that means I was doing ok. We finished abs and he said we were moving on to relaxation. But then someone asked for more abs. So Jay asked the class if we wanted more abs. Who is going to answer no for the class?? We did more abs. Really hard ones, and full situps (afterward someone commented that she didn't know people still do situps, the last time she did them was in HS). Finally we stretched. I'll probably go back to take the class with him again next week.

    Later I went to 59th St for a session with Krystal. Did some more abs. Crazy ones, like leg lifts with a huge ball between my legs that would not stay in place, and planks with shoulder taps. Krystal decided to work on my back today which was torture. I had to lie on the stretching table, all the way at the edge with my arms hanging off, doing all these exercises lifting my arms and arching my back. First with no weights, then 2.5lb weights, then 5lb weights. Last she put a resistance band with ankle wraps on my legs and I had to do squats and side squats with lifts. When I thought I was all done she made me do squat jumps and split squats.

    Stair count: most of it is climbing to my class on the 11th floor, and today was laundry day-the washing machine is in the basement.

  • I went to rutgers for the weekend. The most active I got today was scaling the 9 matresses piled in the corner of the room. And playground swings if that counts for anything. But it was a really nice day.

  • Diesel. I was not really in the mood so I stayed in the back of the room, but I did most of it. Marc is going to India for two weeks so I'll have to make a new gym schedule (most of the classes I take are his). Truth is, I'll still take most of them, but Brooke is subbing for BodyArt. Not gonna happen.

  • Not gonna lie. I was slightly hungover this morning. Spin class was a disaster, and the flashing lights were not helping. When I left my house yesterday morning I was not planning on staying out that late. The plan was to go to VonHottie's show after school (which I LOVED btw, and everyone in NYC should go see it!) and maybe to dinner after. I never drink (and now that i'm in school my social life is non-existent) but after dinner my friend convinced me to go A drink because my Friday morning class was canceled. Reason #579 I hate backpacks: The bouncer checked my ID like 3 times. Seriously? Do I really look like I'm under 21? One drink became a couple more and I didn't get home till like 4am. Which I why I didn't make it to BodyArt this morning, and spin class went the way it did.
    Completely unrelated: The guys were convinced they got me drunk last night, but I was not drunk because drunk people cannot do math homework on the subway at 4am and get 9/11 answers correct :) (yes, I really did that).

  • TRX was super hard today. Marc decided to skip all the easy versions. We were doing spiderman jumps within like 5 minutes of starting class. That was my only workout today because instead of running before TRX, I sat outside the GF room with my accounting textbook studying for my midterm. Later I went for a deep tissue massage. So good! And the lady convinced me to come back during spa week because one massage is not enough to get rid of all the knots in my body.

  • Today I got a spin bike without fighting for one :) I finally figured out that I need to save one as soon as I get to the gym so I don't get stuck without one right before class.
