I am a pro at injuring myself. For a while I was planning on spending today biking to Montauk. I told everyone about it and they all thought I was crazy which made me a little scared to actually try it, but I really wanted to. Last night I was figuring out the details of how to get home (probably should've planned that a little earlier) and discovered there are only two train options getting from Montauk to Penn Station during the week. It was either 2:51pm which I would not get there in time for, or hang out there until 10:38pm. That train would arrive in Penn Station at 2:09am tomorrow morning which would mean I wouldn't get home before 3am. I didn't exactly want to do that and I didn't think riding or taking the subway alone with my bike at that hour was a good idea. So I had to scratch the plan of going to Montauk. The next option was heading in the same direction but stopping a couple miles earlier in Southampton. From there I could either catch the 3:34pm train or turn around and bike part of the way back home until Patchoque which has a train running every hour. So it would either be a 100-mile ride or a 140-mile ride. I didn't do either. At about mile 12 my ankle started hurting. Thinking back to what could have caused it I remembered hitting a pothole and losing my balance for a second. I could have twisted my ankle slightly then. But I kept going. Until I made a wrong turn at mile 49 and realized that the pain was getting worse and it was probably a good idea to find the nearest train station and just go home. Google told me the nearest station was 14 miles away. At that point I didn't really want to ride anymore but I didn't have a choice. I started heading that way and when I saw a cop car I asked him where the closest train station was. Turns out there was one just down the road. I don't know why it didn't show up on google, and while sitting across the street from the station I entered the address and the pin showed I was right there but it gave me directions to go 13 miles away. Long Island is a strange place. So my ride ended in a place called Smithtown, NY. I stopped off at the gym on my home to stretch a little bit and then I biked home (maybe not the smartest plan but as painful as it was anything is better than taking a bike on the subway). In total I did 60 miles today. A little disappointing because I wanted to do so much more. Now I'm at home resting and icing and hoping this will go away fast.

One mile on the treadmill and some abs, to burn off last night's Seder.

I woke up this morning completely sore. It was the strangest thing because I rarely get sore. I'm assuming it was the boxing. I got to the gym and tried working out but I was really lazy and didn't know what to do. I did some abs and then I was done so I went to the pool. Today was a great swim day distance wise-I swam 1/2 a mile!! It's not that it was hard, but it wasn't exactly easy. Today I was actually struggling from when I started, mostly with the breathing. But I was so determined, I'm not really sure why, maybe because I didn't do much at the gym. I figured since yesterday I swam 400m today I had to do at least that and my goal was 500m. By the time I did 400 I was already tired but I pushed for another 4 laps. Once I got to 500 I thought it's only 6 more laps to get to 750m. I could probably do it. It was such a good feeling to make it that far. Now I get a break until next Wednesday while the pool is closed. In two days I just 50m shorter than I did in total last week. I want to start working on technique next week.

Crunch says they clip locks every night. They don't, or at least they haven't in a really long time. Until last night. I don't keep things there very often but yesterday was one of the days I did and this morning I got to the gym and there was no lock and my stuff were gone. So I had to go in search of someone who would know what happened. They said they clipped over 80 locks last night and they still didn't finish going through the whole locker room. I was the first person to come asking about it. They're pretty organized about the situation actually. They needed to know exactly which locker I used because everything was put into separate bags. So I got my stuff and now I'm afraid of leaving things there overnight. Today was also the day that I decided instead of shlepping a towel with me for swimming I would just stop off at the gym on the way and borrow one of theirs. I took a towel then went to swim. Swimming was actually pretty good today. I did 400m again and this time I only stopped after every two laps. It was exhausting but I felt good. Also I think next time I go on a Sunday I should get there as soon as the pool opens. I had to share a lane today. After the pool I went back to the gym to return the towel and take a boxing boot camp class that they were offering special today. Eleven people signed up but only four came, and one was a client of the personal trainer that was teaching. It was ok but I didn't love it. We did a rotation sort of thing. One person worked with the trainer while one did abs and mountain climbers and burpees and the others used the punching bags. I don't think boxing is my thing. It requires a lot of coordination and I'm just not good with that. It was like a dance and I couldn't get it right. And when I was using the punching bags the old guy next to me kept telling me how I should be doing it.

I ran two miles today. I wasn't really fast, 17 minutes, but it was my longest run in the last month. I started out at a comfortable pace because I wanted to try for a longer run today. But I got bored. Bored enough that for the last .10 I just wanted to finish so I put the speed up to 10mph!! I need to get back to running outside. While I am complaining about running two miles Anthony is out somewhere in NJ running a 100-mile race. After the treadmill I did a leg workout, just using the machines that I used to use when I trained with Anthony. It was an ok workout.

I was heading out this morning when my aunt saw me. My aunt is a wonderful person but she's one of those people who don't want to see when you have things to do. She talks a lot, and I got stuck listening to her and nodding my head for 25 minutes. I had to rearrange my schedule because of that. I was supposed to swim, go food shopping, then gym, but if I went swimming first I wouldn't make it to the gym in time for Pound. So I went food shopping first. Farmers market has cherry and peach blossoms which to me means it's really Spring, even though it was 28F when I left in the morning. Then I went to the gym. I had a couple minutes before Pound class so I ran, not fast and not very far. The last thing on my schedule before heading back to Brooklyn was swimming. Today was a pretty good swim day. I did 400m which is my longest so far. Also my last two laps I did without stopping to breathe at the wall. My total swim for this week is 1200m which is 150 more than last week :D. Next week I could only swim on Sunday and Monday because the pool is closing for spring break. I think after the break I need to get a lot more serious about my swim training.

Thursday morning I was up at 6:30am, not by choice. I was awakened by helicopter hovering right above my house and nonstop fire engines. Apparently there was a fire around the corner. But I can't sleep with all that noise and it took close to an hour for them all to leave. By the time I fell back asleep and then woke up I was really lazy and couldn't figure out what to do with my day. I decided to skip swimming and not go to the city. I only have one proper bathing suit right now and really I'm supposed to wash it after every time I wear it. I'm not really good with that because if I washed it when I got home it wouldn't be dry by the time I have to leave the next morning. So today I was giving my bathing suit a rest, also my body because I swam Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I finally left the house at around 1:30pm. I had to go to Target which is right near Crunch Ft. Greene, so I just went there. I decided I should work on legs but I looked at all the machines and they looked different than the ones at Lafayette and I couldn't figure out which ones I needed/knew how to work. Also I'm always afraid of doing these things wrong and looking like a fool. I walked around the gym trying to pretend like I knew what I was doing. It didn't work out too well, so I left. Biked home to drop off some stuff then headed back out to babysit in South Slope. I love finishing babysitting when it's still light outside :) To get home from South Slope I pass by Prospect Park,. Today I was waiting at the light and decided to go into the park and do a lap because I didn't really work out today. I'm glad I made that choice. It was nice to be biking around the park.

Quick recap of my day: I was up at 5:30am and biked to Gantry State Park to watch sunrise on this first day of Spring. It was freezing, definitely did not feel like Spring. Straight from there I biked to the pool. I observed how some swimmers do the front crawl to one end and the backstroke back. I was afraid of doing the backstroke because of my shoulder but I tried today and it made things a little simpler. Quickly showered then biked over to the gym for yoga. Really full class today. Ran a mile before yoga and thought about running after but I was wiped out. After yoga, ate lunch, did homework and studied for my quiz. Then I was bored. So I went back to the gym for another workout. I tried running but my shoulder was getting achy. I thought maybe I need to work on my shoulder so I did shoulder exercises instead. Went to class after the gym. Biked home. On the way I got pulled over by cops who said I wasn't in the bike lane. Except I was. Proved them wrong and it felt great.

I didn't bike today. It was raining in the morning and I had an interview and didn't think it would be a good idea to show up entirely soaked and I didn't feel like carrying an extra set of clothes because I already carry so much stuff. I am very cheap when it comes to the subway so I had to walk from Columbus Circle to my school on 24th St because I didn't want to pay for an extra ride. Swam 300m today. I need to figure out how to deal with the goggle fogging situation. It's annoying to take them off after every lap. Also, I was at the pool in the afternoon today and had to share a lane. I like it better in the morning when there are only 2 or 3 other people there. From the pool I walked a little further, to Crunch Lafayette. I did my own workout. I have no idea what I"m doing but I googled strength training for triathletes and I tried to follow what it said. I really need to work on my legs. That used to be my workouts with Anthony but I don't train with him so I'm going to have to figure out how to do it on my own.

Swimming was tough today, maybe because my body was worn out from yesterday. I wasn't sore but my legs felt a little tired this morning. I swam 250m. A friend told me I work out too much and it's not healthy. After swimming I went to the gym for yoga. I didn't feel lik running today so I got on the elliptical before the class. By the time I got out of the gym it was starting to snow. At that point it was hail. Biking the one mile back to school was painful. When I got out the class the snow was heavier and sticking. I had the dilemma of riding home or taking the subway. I really rathered the bike but I'm not entirely crazy and I know it wouldn't be the smartest idea. So I took the subway. Walking home from the subway I discovered how slippery the streets actually were. After a few times of nearly slipping I actually did, and hit my butt hard. I was somewhat glad I didn't ride home because it might have been worse if I fell off the bike.
