it's 1 am, I went to bed 3 hours ago with my whole body aching and I haven't been able to fall asleep. everything hurts, even my toes. could it be from the 3 miles I ran this morning, 2 laps around the park, or is it the 3 hours of gardening/neighborhood alley clean-up in the afternoon. I'm sure that the 4 beers I drank during alley clean-up did not help. poor me. I took some advil, ate some cereal and an hoping for the sleepies to arrive soon.
if my mother's day dream comes true I will be able to spend sunday at the spa, but that's only a dream...

walked from the bed to the computer at 8am and I'm still here. Put on some jeans, but still wearing my pyjama top. It's just one of those days.
Did go outside for 15 min. to help the man with the new garden fence. He's screwing these ginormous 4-foot spike things into the ground to support the fence posts. I had to stand/balance on the top of one of these spikes while he was turning it to help force it into the ground. Felt like I was part of a circus family. Had to concentrate on core and balance.

Wednesday evening: 15 min bike to and from 60 min. dance class. There were less people in class so we didn't have to split into groups during floor work which means I moved for the full 60 min. and got sweaty.
Thursday: a rare morning appearance at the gym for a Body Design class. 30 min. step and 30 min. sculpt. Did a lot more upper body work than I'm used to doing on my own. Change is good. Trying to use more big girl weights, like vonHottie.

really wasn't feeling motivated today, but I went to the gym during lunch anyway, it's just downstairs so I really have no excuse. thousands, stretching and foam-rolling was all I could do. Tonight is dance class.

Our first beautiful spring weekend! After my race Saturday morning I spent 4 hours working in the garden and using power tools! to build a new planter.
Sunday I woke up sore all over, but with another beautiful day on the way I had no time whine, I put on my garden clothes and spent 6 hours in garden heaven. Today was community garden day. Bought a lot of baby plants then hoed, weeded, turned soil, added compost (bootcamp workout!) and planted a ton of veg. Also did some more work in the home garden. My whole body aches, but it's all good. I'm grateful for my beautiful gardens.

ran my 3rd 5k this morning. I was lucky #999! Great location through the botanical garden and adjacent Olympic park. The weather was perfect, sunny and 50°F. I felt great before the race but by km1 I was ready to stop and walk. I had to keep telling myself to keep running. I did stop 3 times very briefly after the 3km mark when we were running on rolling hills. I walked the last part of each uphill. I thought my time was going to be terrible but when I finally finished I saw 30:35, a new PB! each race I've been 30 seconds faster. Now if I had not stopped to walk...
Having serious doubts about being able to run a 10k in the fall.

I tried out Cari's week 4 bootcamp workout today. Great stuff! I did 5 min. cardio intervals on the tread for 2 miles total and all the thousands in between. Great way of dividing up 2 things I don't love – running on the tread and weights. While I was doing abs Adele's song Rumour Has It was playing on the radio so I had to stand up and do my jazz dance routine. There were only 3 other people in the gym so I didn't care :)
My perfect workout combo would be biking, jazz dance and yoga. Maybe when the kid is all grown up and I'm retired I will have the time for those things every day, until then it's running and bootcamp.

I have my 3rd 5K race coming up this weekend and I'm starting to think that's not enough of a challenge any more. So maybe I should do a 10K in the fall. But then I looked at a training schedule for a 10K and the first week I should be able to run 6K as my long run. Yikes!
So today I decided to go for an outside run for as long as possible without walking. I thought I was doing great and had run at least 30 min. but when I actually stopped, walked and looked it had only been 20 min., argh. total: 25 min./2.5 miles. At least I kept it to 10 min/mile. I need to find a longer route around the office. finished up with some thousands.
grateful for the little ducklings I saw swimming with mama duck while I was stretching. so cute!
