with the postal strike in Montreal I've become my own mail-carrier. 40 min. power walk and 5 long flights of stairs to deliver a job and pick up a check. 60 bathroom squats at work. walking lunges in the hallway. I feel kind of stupid exercising at work because everyone else just sits there all day. They don't even move for lunch, just walk to the kitchen table. I don't get it.

watched the kid get a root canal and filling today - totally OUT of my comfort zone, but he was a superstar and only complained for a minute.
we have not been sleeping well the past week. gorgeous evening weather so we sleep with the windows open but then all the city noises wake us up: 1am car alarm, 4am kids coming home from the bar, 5am damn tweety birds which force me to close the window and then the alarm before 7am.
I.AM.TIRED but I went to the gym and did 40 min. walk/run 2.9 miles. squats and lunges for my J-Lo butt, dips and pulls for the Obama arms and lots of work on the revenge abs.
countdown to summer vacay: 5 days!

mail strike in Montreal :( so I have to collect my freelance checks using pedal power. good excuse to go for a bike ride during my lunch break. after work pulled some weeds and watered the plants with the kid.

left work early and went to the gym. The treadmill was really difficult today. Ran 15 out of 25 min. with breaks but my legs were too tired to do more. followed with 15 min. elliptical which was easier today, go figure. lots of abs and free weights. Working on those evil assisted dips and pull-ups again, dislike, but they do make for nice Obama arms. Today is the kid's real birthday which means any evening of carbs: pizza, beer (for me) and homemade chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting. YUM :)

Training session today. I get one free/year so I took full advantage of the lovely Cecile (from France) "ma petite chou". My goals are to run 3k on the treadmill nonstop by Sept., lose 5 lbs. (I say that every year) and get "revenge" abs, or as I said "pre-baby" abs.
This is the first trainer I've ever had that I liked and I didn't feel like I could be his/her mother. She listened and gave me what I wanted. I've got a doable cardio plan to build endurance and help lose weight, lots of free-weight exercises cause I don't like machines and tons of stuff for revenge abs.
I might even pay for another session with her in the future. Bonus points: we did everything in french, so I trained both my body and my mind. Gotta love that frenchy accent!
After working with Cecile I remembered to do the 6-pack abs challenge, double bonus.

day 3 of the new me workout plan. back at the gym for intervals on the treadmill. this time things didn't go so well. I had to go slower during the running intervals so my heart wouldn't feel like exploding out of my chest. But I stuck with it until the 30 min. was done. After that 60 pushups, 50 situps, 100 crunches and some yoga as a reward. I have my training session Monday with Cecile. I get one free session each year so I don't get to choose the trainer. I've been thinking about goals for the coming year and running a 5K would be a big one for me. Also losing the last 8 lbs of baby fat would be good. The baby will be 8 years old next week, one lb. for each year :)

90 min. of gardening after work. finally got all our baby plants settled into the back 40. feels good to get the job done. Now we can sit back with a cool drink and watch them grow. looking forward to some hot yoga tomorrow.

birthday = spa day! massage, facial, hot tub. It was great. I almost feel 28 again, or at least 35. I was surprised to have a young, hunky masseur, Yves. My first thought when I saw him, was ooo, happy ending :)
Went to the gym in the afternoon and decided that since it's a new year for me, it's time for a change. So I did 30 min. intervals on the treadmill and booked myself with a trainer to set up a new routine. I vaguely remember running a lot when I was really 28, so if I want to get that body again, I better start working out like I did back then.
