Happy Valentine's Day! James and I went to a new parkour gym called Bklyn Beast. Pretty cool place, kind of a creepy walk over there though, because it's in the middle of a really industrialized area.
6:30am wakeup, followed by a workout at Uplift. Is it sad that it takes a challenge around waking up to get me to work out early? Anyway.
In the evening I jogged over to a nearby gym called Chalk Gyms. I'm gym shopping so I got a 3 day trial for this place. The 8:30 cardio kickboxing had a sub that clearly wasn't a teacher, so he very quietl taught us muay thai moves and conditioning because that's his background. The other two girls in the room were not amused, less so when he had us do burpees. I think I was a little too happy in that room. The gym overall is nice, and they have barbells which is what I lack, so I'm thinking about it :)
Training session with Kdoog! Except this time I played the trainer role. It was fun, but I'm still in that phase where I feel awkward just *watching* people work out, so I joined in for a few exercises too. Bear crawls, duck walks, squat jumps and pushups galore! :) Then I had to make up other exercises on the fly because he breezed through my 1hr plan in 35 minutes. Beast. =P Afterwards he gave me some trainer tips and a bit of suggested reading.
After that I went to go meet up with James at the gym for a little bit o' lifting and pullup work. He got there a half hour late. It was really awkward being the only girl there... Fun stuff. I wish this place had the barbells where you can adjust the weight, I'd be curious to know how much I can deadlift and these preweighted bars aren't cutting it for me. Any suggestions? (PS I don't have a real gym membership, I'm just using the Sheraton hotel's fitness center through a Groupon, and that expires very soon)
Kettlebell kickboxing in the morning followed by a lunchtime TRX class at Nimble Fitness. Great way to spend a day off from work! :)
Uplift class in the morning, Thousands numbers are fairly conservative :) Followed up with a little bit of rock climbing in the evening at BKB.
Fun session with Michelle in the morning, definitely some interesting combo moves (side straddling across the room while at the same time doing shoulder presses was super hard) and pushup variations. Fun stuff.
BKB in the evening and I took the climber core class as well. My poor abs.
Whittle Your Middle during lunch. Flip & Tuck after work. 100 pushups challenge before bed. Productive day!
I'm not sure what defines performing beautifully but I did my first wall-supported headstand during Flip & Tuck (at Streb) today and I was very proud of myself.
Crazy day... Rock 'n' Roll 10k in Prospect Park (finished in 62 minutes!), and Sweaty Saturday fun! Lululemon, Flywheel and As1 hosted quite a workout, starting with a spin class with Ryan, followed by close to a mile run to the park for a mini 45-minute As1 boot camp.
So tired and sore. Tomorrow's a well-deserved rest day!
Warrior Fight Club with Amanda at Uplift! A wonderful combo of yoga, boxing and conditioning circuits. The final savasana was so nice...
Lunchtime Thousands circuit! This workout makes me want to puke. In a good way.
