Catchup: An evening at Uplift Studios. Back to back. full length classes. Wowee. First was Summer Shapeup, taught by Shannon, which focused on a lot of core work and exercises that work the same exercises from kayaking and standup paddleboarding. It was tough, and I LOVED it. Next was Uplifting, taught by Chelsea, which was more of a circuit workout. Tough night!

Week 2 begins for Lacey Stone bootycamp! Lots of running this morning, estimating (underestimating) about 1 mile or so.
Lyra class with Heather in the evening.
Then 11 full minutes of Death by Burpees. James too. Which means 66 burpees total. Today may or may not be a fluke but we might be getting better and faster at these burpees :)

AMPower Aerial Boot Camp! I have mixed feelings about the class. I'd like to do a non-boot camp version. One that doesn't involve burpees before going in the air. :)
I used the trapeze for the first time ever. Soooo naturally, I pulled a calf muscle. >_> But it was a nice, new experience!
It's kind of interesting how every place I've gone to for an aerial class has such different styles of teaching. At Art of Fitness, I'm very much babied into particular poses and such, which I am perfectly okay with because even though I have a strong upper body, I'm pretty uncoordinated and have a weak core. At Heather's class, moves you learn are more advanced, but you have to go a few times before you even touch those. In Fran's class (AMPower) there was wide range of experience, but mostly beginners, and she somehow got everyone doing moves that I would have cried if Heather made me do them in my first class (like....doing drops).
I've been heavily slacking in the aerial department but I think going to Fran's class has kind of renewed the interest. I'm going to try to do at least one aerial class (antigravity if I have to) each week, and alternate between all the different studios.
Next up: Lyra with Heather and Cody on Monday!

Soooo I won a month of Lacey Stone's bootycamp through Fitist.
I was stoked when I got the Congratulations email! '1 of 3 coveted spots'...
... Then I found out it starts at 6:30am.
... /blink blink
... Umm....
... Naturally, I said yes.
Usually these things work 2x a week, in the morning, and the series is 4 weeks long (total of 8 sessions), and you sign up the whole month at a time and you stick with the same people throughout. Because of the way the contest was timed, I did miss day 1 and started today (day 2). I picked the Mon/Wed series since I'm already doing the Alignyo classes on Tues/Thurs this month.
Let me tell you. Waking up at 5:30am is HARD. thefatbridesmaid, I'm not sure how you do it. You effing rawk.
Anyway, this month's NYC coach is David Owens (because Lacey was already here in May and now she's doing the LA bootycamp). He's super sweet and very motivating. The boot camp included burpees (BUT OF COURSE), running, dips, and a whole ton of other stuff I would generally encourage in Thousands. So, of course, I loved it. It was tough, but not to a point that I would hate it. And I actually kind of liked that by 7:30am, my workout was already out of the way and I was happy typing away at my desk by 8ish. (Well, okay, I had downed 2 cups of coffee before noon and yawning by 2pm, but well worth it).
So excited for the rest of June!!

Bright and early at 7am was Alignyo's first Sky-High yoga session on the rooftop of Reebok Sports Club up on the UWS, taught by Kirtan Smith. It was a nice vinyasa class, the sky was blue, and it was freezing cold. But I had a lot of fun and I got a free Vita Coco yoga mat out of it!
In the evening, it was back to Uplift Studios to try the Fit & Flow class, taught by Leanne. Jill teaches the yoga portion but had an emergency so the class was mostly just the Fit portion. Just when I thought I got away from burpees, that's what part of the warmup was. Running up and down stairs, jump rope, and also some dumbell work. Helloooo sweaty mcsweat. Afterwards was a mini wine happy hour. ^_^

Went to Exhale Spa for the first time and took Yin Yoga taught by Marcy. Not counting minutes or workout for that one, because, well, it was like one awesome nap. But next week is going to be the last class :(
Super late night burpees (ahem1:40am). Counting the pushups that came with it. Completed 9 minutes (45) and only made it through 8 in the 10th minute. Sweating profusely.

Quickie workout. Drenched in sweat.
I made it through the first 10 minutes of Death by Burpees today! Which means 55 burpees! (Yesterday I made it through 9 minutes and 45 burpees).
I'm not a crossfitter so I only learned about this a few days ago... So for anyone else who is in the dark like I was, an example of how it works:
Minute 1: 1 burpee, then rest for remainder of minute.
Minute 2: 2 burpees, rest for remainder of minute
Minute 3: 3 burpees, rest for remainder of minute
...etc... until you crap out.
Officially doing it as a challenge starting in June (http://socialworkout.com/challenge/showRunning/28167) for anyone interested :)

Lunchtime run - 3 miles under the instruction of the MiCoach app. Yes, I'm counting these as personal training.
In the evening, it was back to Cindy Lai's boot camp, and I was the only one who showed up. Lucky me! And now, my butt is incredibly sore from all the walking lunges and everything else. Got to work out on the grass too... bug-swatting aside, it felt nice. :)
