Eight weeks ago, nearly 1,000 brave souls representing nine company teams joined Project Fit. The mission: Downsize your team's average body fat percentage with an extra helping of exercise. More than half a million minutes of exercise later, the results are in: Victory!
Yes, while the collective body fat percentage improvement was modest — a 1.8% improvement which brought the average BF% down to 28.22% — many individuals and several teams posted more dramatic results.
Big congratulations go to Team NASDAQ, which achieved both the lowest team body fat percentage, a lean 21.55%, AND the greatest BF% improvement from start to finish: 4.81%. Impressive!
The battle for exercise logging and challenge participation came down to the wire, with Team Winston & Strawn narrowly edging out their fellow lawyers at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher to take the prize. Without question, it was a fine day for the New York City Bar! Honorable mention goes to Wall Street-based Deutsche Bank, which managed to stay at the top of the leaderboard from the start, despite a certain well-publicized Occupation tending to complicate access to their local gym.
Prizes to the top teams and individuals are forthcoming, but a big round of virtual applause and high fives right now for everyone! Project Fit was fun and unprecedented. We believe, in fact, this may be the first inter-company fitness challenge of its kind EVER, and we're excited to carry the model forward. Indeed, if you're not feeling quite done with this self-improvement thing, don't panic: Your local Equinox has got your back, as does Social Workout.
Should you wish to start a new challenge for yourself, your co-workers, or anyone else, we can help: New challenges start daily, and sign-ups for our mega-holiday challenge, "Tis the Season to Stick with It," begin December 1st. (When the rest of the world goes shopping, we go to the gym!) Come back on Friday to sign up, or find another challenge here:

Remember, if you don't like the challenges you see, you can start your own!
Now that you've got some momentum, the key, of course, is to keep it going. And so, onward and upward, and a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving to all!

With the final minutes of Project Fit ticking down, we've got a battle on our hands. Late yesterday afternoon, in a flurry of exercise logging, Winston & Strawn passed our long time leader Deutsche Bank to take the top spot on our activity leaderboard. Then, this morning, Willkie Farr & Gallagher also pulled ahead of the bankers to move into second place. These lawyers have game! But the dust has not settled yet, and don't count anyone out. The challenge officially ended last night at midnight, but everyone has until tonight at midnight to file their final catch-up posts, as well as to complete their final body fat percentage weigh in.
Listen people, we've logged over a half a million minutes of exercise to get here. Now it's time to finish strong. Log your exercise, and get your final BF% measurement done! It'll feel good.
We'll see you Monday, when we offer up virtual hugs and high fives, not to mention very real prizes, at our online awards ceremony.
FYI: To file a catch-up post, go to the Project Fit challenge homepage, select the appropriate date at the top of your activity form, and enter your minutes. But don't even think about "rounding up!" We're all standing by ready to click the "bullplop" button on suspicious posts.
And, one more time, for the cheap seats: Get your check-in times at http://equinox.com/projectfit
