That’s it. Since I’ve gotten to Berlin the nature of my job has changed quite a bit and I’ve been working well past regular hours, going on day and weekend trips, and just generally dealing with a stress level that has been higher than normal. Yes, my NYC work also had regular busy times, but somehow having a student balling in your office (or cleaning out a mini-bar and getting entirely obliterated) is a very different type of stress. Anyways, the new schedule and responsibilities, coupled with the fact that I’m in a new place and am going through my own cultural adjustments while also hoping to explore my new surroundings, has caused me to put the gym at the very bottom of my to do list. And this as I’m supposed to be preparing for a marathon! UGH. Ok. Not much I can do about the past month or so of optimistically-said “inconsistent” training, but I have a month to get my behind in gear for the “big day.”
So, to kick off my renewed commitment, I’m doing a general overhaul of my by now rather mediocre eating and workout habits. As of last night I’m back to paleo, piling up on the veggies, upping my protein to pre-Germany levels, and I cut out all added sugars and grainy carbs. It’s funny how just a couple meals that way, have made me feel SOOOOOO much better & more motivated! Then, this morning I McFit’ed it up before work. I did a 10 minute warm-up run, followed by a full-body strength training circuit. By the end my legs were shaking, so…YAY!
