took a long walk despite problems with my feet, i walked today. it was rainy, but the temperature was comfortable. maybe the worst of winter is over. pulled my bike out. hope to get it functioning this coming week.
real runners run in the rain (or, misery loves company) today the only thing that got me through my run was seeing other runners out on the trail, totally drenched by the rain (like me), with the wind whipping their hair in their faces (like me), with cars splashing them as they sped through the puddles (like me). Unlike me, these other runners looked like they felt pretty good about themselves for getitng up at 9 am and running in what was a
Walking ... Again Another nice night, and another nice walk. Even got to catch up with a neighbor for a few minutes. :) Plus: 50 crunches and 50 push ups when I got back.
long walk with the dogs My roommate and I walked the dogs all through the East Village and then to the dog park. It was a lovely day and more exhusting that you would think.
wandering & wondering. In which this week's "Featured Body," msh258, undertakes an epic journey. After work, leaving the euphemistically named "Lower Level" (aka basement) of the building where my office resides and feeling the light breeze and sunshine on my skin, nothing seemed less appealing than heading to the gym to coop myself up for another couple of hours. So, I did what any other rational young professional NYC lady in heels would do...I decided to walk from Union Square to Jackson Heights, Queens. Uhm....right. Armed with the iPhone GPS and a pair of sneakers that I would avoid wearing for as long as possible, I started heading up 3rd Avenue.
Busted Doing Squats My partner caught me doing squats last night while I watched a YouTube video on how to sew a zipper into the dress I am making. He stopped laughing only to tease me relentlessly. I thought I was being a clever multi-tasker, but he thought I was just being a dork. Humph.
Feels like spring! I realize I'm writing a lot about the weather, but after 4 mo mostly cooped up in the house or gym, I'm finally getting back outside. I like the ease at which you can throw on your gym shoes and do some circuits or go running. Fits in with my full time working, child raising lifestyle. 30 min run
Back outside!!! Over freezing here today! I figured it would be a good time to bust out the jogging stroller for a little run/walk. I was excited to get outside but I totally underestimated how much my son was also itching to get outside for some activity.
sweet sunday hike Bear Gulch 5 mile loop.
Oscar Worthy Squats I was psyched when I heard about the wonderful weather that was to hit us this weekend. I went for a long run (yay Cardio sans the machine) this morning and really felt that 'Spring Awakening' feeling that means only good things to come.
The Outdoor Par Course Is Like A Playground For Adults Who needs to finagle free gym passes when there are free outdoor par courses that offer strength training and cardio opportunities with the added bonus of sunshine and fr
Unplugged exercise, finally! Good weather, got outside: sprinted, squatted, sweated.
Sunday Run with aching body Nice weekend day #2 gave me just enough motivation to get out and go for another run. I did just over 5 miles and 2 minutes of sprints (up to 8 minutes total). Again I hit the pullup bar and could *really* feel my muscles from yesterday. I can only hope that this upper body/arm toning will pay off this summer when I wear tank tops and am in my friend's wedding!!
Weekend Run and Pull Up Attempt (ie, baseline zero) I had afternoona and evening plans yesterday, so knew I needed to get in a workout before. Fortunately the weather is just amazing. I headed out and did 3.6 miles around the Pond and did 4 minutes of sprints (bringing me to 6 minutes total). I also found the pull up bars. There were three levels so I chose the one that I could easily reach. Baseline zero. I m
The Sunny Side Of The Street Five reasons my five mile run yesterday was amazing: 1. I could breath without the air burning my lungs because it was 50 degrees! 2. I saw NINE deer rambling through Rock Creek Park 3. I chased away a case of mild anxiety before it could turn into a full panic attack 4. I was able to catch up with a good friend
