Personal Goals
Enjoy the bounty of the earth and season with five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. From spinach to strawberries, make room for five servings (a half cup or more) a day.
This morning I decided today would be a no chocolate day. I did it! One day without choc is big for me. I had big plans of running to the gym, but it was so cold and rainy today that I took the car, and turned on the heated seats! One hour class today, fesses de fer (buns of steel). Basically a step class with a lot of squats. We also did a lot of ab moves that were new to me. I'm gonna be feeling it tomorrow.
36 min. bike ride towards home before the rain started and I found a metro station. Not dressed for the rain today.
made a strawberry-rhubarb crumble for dessert, with fruit from the garden. Yum!
I feel revived. Got out of work early, biked back to my car, 30 min. Drove home then went for a run. Slow and steady for 28 minutes. Ended at the gym for body weight training, lots of abs and a weigh-in. Not thrilled by the weight, but Iblame that on the long weekend/lack of cardio.
Introducing my new move: the Crotch Coffin. It involves using my inner thigh muscles like vice grips, hence my "crotch of steel!" Before I mastered this, we worked on hip keys, which are so unforgiving. It's not so easy to fan kick your legs once you're in midair. Grrrr.
Happy Victoria Day, Canada! Beautiful long weekend, I'm sad to see it end. still no "real" workout today, but more time in the garden. We measured the backyard patio area again, and I was short by a foot, so more digging out dirt and grass. Walked to the park with the kid and then to the veg garden to put in the last seeds and water. My back and gluts are soooo sore today, but it's all good. Picked the first basil leaves from the garden for dinner. Can't wait for all those veg to grow. The rhubarb is already ginormous, must start making compote.
More gardening. Today was planting veg in the community garden with my plot partner, Katou. We put in tomato, peppers, shallots, red onion, eggplant, bok choy, brussels sprouts, red chard, celery, herbs. Already growing: rhubarb, strawberries and a ton of garlic. Thankfully we had preppedthe soil inthe fall so it was only 3 hours of digging and planting. Looks great and I'm pooped.
No gym workout today, but I did spend 2hours in the yard digging out a 5x7 area of dirt, 6 in. deep so we can put in our new patio. When I finally stopped It hurt to lift my arms to wash my hair in the shower :)
