so nice out so i skipped my usual wednesday night rebounding class for a jog in central park. i am desperately trying to get in good running shape for my 5k on sunday. definitely should have started this whole running thing earlier. oops.
healthy dinner of pasta with meat sauce, steamed green beans and an orange.
Once again the mosquito has messed with me. This time a lot worse. I was in bed early so I could get my 7 hours of sleep. I was awoken by a tingling feeling on my lip. Turns out a mosquito bit me on my lip and the entire right side of my face blew up. Really scary experience. Nothing I tried was helping to bring the swelling down. I had to miss class this morning, my PT session, and Buff Yoga. Instead spent my morning at the doctors office, learning that I had an allergic reaction and getting a prescription for some really strong stuff that will make me really sleepy.
(I would put up a picture, but I don't think you want to see it. My face looks kind of nasty right now. And, I did get my 7 hours of sleep, just not the hours I originally intended.)
at the beginning of bodyart class the instructor announced that there was a photographer from the new york times there to take photos of the class for an article that is being written! the class was pretty crowded so he had to squeeze and crouch down in various places around the room to take photos. click. click. click. good thing the camera wasn't pointed in my direction.
first time in bodyart class and i enjoyed it a lot! a nice combo of holding various yoga poses and then transitioning into different movements that incorporated those poses. i didn't think it would be too hard but it def got my heart rate up. then glee club which was a fun high energy dance class. the moves were fairly basic but it was cool hearing all the glee songs and getting to sing along at the same time.
started off my day with an egg white omelet with tomatoes, red peppers, broccoli and mushrooms. yummyyyyy.
My only workout today: The Ride with Tomas.
covered myself in icy hot last night hoping it would help my muscles be less sore today. i finally made it back to my favorite monday night spin class. had some trouble with all the jumps but felt so good to sweat it out.
dinner was a bottle of beer and a crap ton of chex mix and goldfish courtesy of vonhottie's new theater company, little lord. i will not mark it as healthy.
Some days I think I work out too much. Today might be one of those. I couldn't make it up the stairs when I got home. I was up at 6am, had a class until 9am. Yoga with Jess at 10. I was having a really hard time doing anything today. My hips were really tight it hurt to do everything. Also, he spent a lot of time on inversions today. As hard as I try I can't get my legs up. Nobody else in class has issues with that. Even the girl who said she was new to yoga. Jess said its mostly fear and that one day after class he'll work on headstands with me. After that I took S.T.A.R. Treatment with Marc. It was my first time in the spin room at Lafayette. That room is huge! The class is Spin, Toning, Abs, and Relaxation (i think thats what the 'R' stands for). It's only 25 minutes of spin, but it felt like a full-length class. Toning was ok, except I thought I could do it with 7.5lb weights, but had to use 5lbs because my shoulders were already feeling sore from yoga. Abs were tough, but I was expecting that because Marc's ab workouts are always tough. And then we stretched. I am done for the day.
Oh, I also ran a little over a mile before yoga.
Did a light jog and then did 35 min of strength training
walked around the atlantic antic street festival today and was tempted by all the tasty food the vendors were selling. who can resist gyros when sold by a blonde woman in a suggestive pose? but i didn't eat anything because i had parkour later and i knew that food + lots of jumping = bad news.
sass came to class today! i was fairly certain that she wouldn't really be a fan of it but i'm glad she came and tried it out. fraidy was also there rocking her fancy lululemon pants. TONS of jumping today. and we got to jump over the big black box which i ran into a couple times with my shins because i couldn't quite get over it. ouch.
my quads have been really tight so after class me, sass and fraidy went to stretch. i rolled around on the foam roller as we chatted. =]
horrible food day today, except for the tasty snack sass and i got after the gym. i want to eat good stuff but i cannot bring myself to cook it. bah.
Last night I was attacked. By a tiny bug-a mosquito. I managed to make it through the summer without any bites-a rarity. But last night I was bitten enough to make up for the entire summer. Also, allergy season has arrived. I slept approximately 3 hours. The rest of the night was spent up, scratching, looking out for the nasty mosquito, and catching up on all the tv I missed all week due to studying. By the time the sun came up I was exhausted. But since it's Sunday, it's JackRabbit, and I am a trooper so I went to Prospect Park for my run. Needless to say it wasn't a good run. I did 2.5 miles in 31 minutes. But I was with Level 1 and came in 2nd. After my run I went for a coffee. I know, I broke the no caffeine rule.
And since a run is not enough, I also went to parkour. Sass and CJ were there. It was fun. I think I'm finally figuring out the con-vault. Today we also got to use the big black vault, which is my favorite. I still cannot do anything that involves the pole. I think it's because I grasp it too tightly.
For dinner I made garlic chicken stir fry because I was told garlic wards off mosquitos. I need my sleep. I don't want any more encounters with that bug.
(On my way to Target this morning I passed by Crunch Park Slope, and it seemed like there were way too many people there on a Sunday morning)
This morning I ran 4 miles. And followed it with my last crunch class Virgin Yoga. Don't let the name fool you, you are definitely going to get a good workout. By the end I was so at peace my body all relax, the perfect way to end my 14 day crunch pass. It sad that the crunch part is over, I really enjoyed it, I thought it was quite fitting though today at Yoga that the teacher was talking about no judgment.
B= Go lean crunch + Low Fat Milk + Banana
No workout in the last 3 days. Only food.
