Last Wednesday was the last class of my 6 week silks workshop at The Art of Fitness in Astoria. A very nice husband of one of the students took pictures for us. My split rollup is looking better. What's really better is that when I lose the footlock, I can fix it myself without touching the floor. Saturday, I took my friend Y. to silks class in Astoria. She did really well, especially since it was her first time and she's trying to get back in shape after giving birth to my beautiful godson 10 months ago. We joke that her celebrity baby weight loss plan is just to give the weight to the baby. It's a plan that's working, as he's 27lbs and improves her upper body strength daily! I was so proud to introduce her to a fun workout, and best of all, I got to have lunch with her afterwards and get some quality time with that baby's admirable amounts of chub. Seriously. His chub is so great, I bury my face in his fat little cheeks every chance I get.

Saturday short run and usual pushup-situp-squats routine. It's won't make for a banner showing in May 1000s, but must at least get credit for all activity....

Beautiful day riding from Boonville to Mendocino to Russian Gulch State Park. Lots of vineyards, redwoods, blooming rhododendron

Heard a knocking against a tree while climbing mountain to Boonville and turned around to find a Pileated woodpecker doing its thing while cars whizzed by and rain sifted down.

Friday highlight: Career Day at Humanities Prep. This did not factor into any of my current challenges, but it was awesome. I represented the career "web guy." We also had an architect, a lawyer, an "urbanist," and a New York City Fireman. Clearly, the fireman got the most love.

Catch up! Yoga in Bryant Park and then beers with the SW crew, and THEN, amazingly, a brief moment of unexpected dancing on J.F.'s fancy new balcony with old grad school friends. Count it.

My friend left and some family came! The little 5-year old is my new energy role model. She kinda rules and apparently I'm her "heart" and she wants to marry me so we can cuddle all the time. Life's good :-)

Double social workout awesome day! Met with Buffin, where he is training my muscles and I am training his vocabulary. My muscles are not sore, they are having a soirée or a rager. Weights are not heavy, they are mild or spicy. I signed up for another pack with Buffin, so by the time I'm done with him, his vocab will be more than SAT-ready.
Then it was off to the Social Workout meetup at Yoga in Bryant Park. What lovely evening - breezes, curious onlookers, majestic buildings, and hundreds of strangers saluting the setting sun. I could have stayed in savasana forever, watching the blue and gold sky. We geeked out about exercise and the internet over post-yoga drinks (it's all about balance). I think people who exercise must be some of the nicest people around.
