Really had to try for no bags today - it seemed like everywhere I went, they wanted to give me a plastic bag. Even for 1 bottle of spices!
Breakfast was farina, and I made breakfast for the rest of the week. Hopefully I'll also eat them :)

For my birthday, my parents sent me my second favorite kind of blueberry muffins. Saturday was a lovely day to be running errands, and an even lovelier day for Kaitlyn B.'s amazing Kentucky Derby party. The horse I bet on didn't even show, so I was out 5 bucks but up by a mint julep.

not so much regular exercising happening lately, but lots of gardening. Digging up plants and moving them around, hauling bags of soil, up and down the basement stairs for tools and toys for the kid. It's all good and more gratifying than the gym.

spent the day outside with the neighbors cleaning up our back alley, pulling weeds, sweeping, gardening, bbqing, speaking french and finally drinking. It was fun. I have muscles that hurt that I've never felt before.

My glutes are so sore from Thursday's training session with mon petit buffin that when I first tried to climb the silks in today's class, it was like when someone holds the Road Runner's tail in cartoons and he just pedals in place. No traction whatsoever. We tried getting into the iron cross (see picture for example) from a footlock. I didn't hold on properly and fell straight through the front of the silks. Kaboom - face first onto the mat. I have eaten a lot of mat in my time, but that was a veritable mat buffet. Good thing I'm classically trained in pratfalls. My one triumph was that I wrapped a (very sloppy) footlock in the air. Hooray for the small victories!

woke up with the hangover from hell. Spent part of the night sleeping on the bathroom floor. I probably drank all of my May allotment of white wine in one night, but it was fun at the time. Anyway, the sun finally came out today so I went for a 40 min. bike ride during lunch and explored a part of Montreal I've never seen before. The great thing with the Bixi bikes is that I can log on to the website and see my time and distance traveled. very cool. need to do some thousands this weekend.

Now I know why my fellow celebrities all get addicted to their trainers. Mon petit buffin and I took our physical affair to a whole new level yesterday. We foam rolled our IT bands together and he sang Journey songs to me while I ran 3 minute intervals on the treadmill. Buffin says I'm already faster and more efficient and I've only been running for one day! It turns out running is a fine pastime when you only do it for three minutes at a time while an attractive muscular man doesn't stop believing [in you].

Had fruit and yogurt for breakfast. I have to remember to drink more water (maybe that will be next months goal!)
Also got a "real" gym workout in today. Weights, cardio and yoga. Was nice to be back :)
