Core workout at JackRabbit after work and kettlebell work at home! =)
For real, if you showed me this schedule in 2009, I would have cried, and then kicked you hard in the stomach and run away. That's me in the picture, the first day I joined Social Workout, thinking I was so tough because I strolled and gossiped for 5K in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women. I think I sweat maybe 3 drops, and that was because of the humidity. Also, why wasn't I wearing more pink? Now here I am, 2.5 years later, making up challenges for myself, which involve 6 workouts a week, hauling my von hottness up some fabric, and regularly lifting 100 lbs. with my hot, hot trainer.
Anyway, I realize that a 10-goal challenge makes it look like I will work out a zillion times a week. That is SO not true. I mean, I'm a lady with a lot going on. It's all about streamlining, people. Streamlining, and then cocktails. Here's the plan:
Monday - silks & cardio & foam rolling
Tuesday - personal training with Buffin
Wednesday - silks & foam rolling (& cardio if I don't do it on Mondays)
Thursday - Buffin & cardio
Friday - silks & foam rolling
Saturday - weights (because Buffin says I have to) & cardio. So if I sleep til noon, go to brunch, then workout for 2 hours, that should take me right back to cocktail hour. Perfect!
I don't know where to fit in the yoga class. I need the yoga because my legs and hips and shoulders are muy inflexib-ley. Saturdays? Maybe Sunday nights? But that's my rest day. It is so hard being this fit and fabulous! Please pass the protein martini.

Quick run this morning... mostly because I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I was hoping the workout would help me go BACK to sleep. Ended up crawling back in bed at 7 and it worked a little too well - woke up late. Oooops.
Still counting the sunrise wakeup though because I was up and did something slightly productive.
Beginner ballet class at Joffrey Ballet School last night. Considering purchasing a class package to last me the next year or so!
Catchup: Busy Saturday! Yoga for Runners at JackRabbit (I'm on the hunt for free workouts throughout NYC), but I got there late because the train wasn't running. Boo. Followed by boot camp w/ Al Kavadlo, and then finally ice skating with the sister and boyfriend. <3
OH! And a trip to Facial Spa and lots of cookie baking :)
Catchup: Half hour I.AM.YOU audio yoga in the morning. Love this stuff. Still no replacement for class though... but Lauren's off teaching at her tropical yoga retreats, so what's a girl to do?
Catchup: Free yoga class at Lole Showtique (they have them every Thursday!). I ended up buying a cute new running jacket... with removable sleeves! =)
Catchup: Crazy abs class at 24 Hr Fitness. My last time there, because my membership expired. /sadface
I was able to climb high on the silks, able to tie my footlocks high, but I did not go upside down. I'm just going to keep repeating this sentence to myself and hope it sticks for next time: "Lead with your twinkle toes. Lead with your twinkle toes."
Buffin & I played "I spy with my little eye" all the pink things in the gym. And he murdered my core with his abs routine, and re-introduced me to my triceps.
Friday was historical turning point in the Silk Road challenges. I've been practicing tying my footlocks in the air, but I only start from 6 inches off the ground. However, on Friday I gave the silks one climb. And then I thought, "Hey, I'll do another." And since I was already higher, I thought, "Well, I'll just do another." Then I figured I might as well attempt a footlock. And suddenly my foot was tied in the silk, and then I tied my other foot, and then I just kind of stood there, stunned. Heather had been helping another student, and she turned around and said, "I've never seen you that high before!" I imagine it's like when a mother turns their back on their toddler for a second and when they turn back around, the kid is walking! Since I'd already had so much success, I thought I should give my arch-nemesis, the ol' butt over head crossback straddle a go. And suddenly there I was, dangling upside down, and I was really high! And then I remembered I'm scared of heights, but there was no time for that, so I just kept breathing. The scariest part of all was untying my footlocks, and praying my biceps would hold me until I had my feet wrapped back around the silks in the climb position. Here is the photographic evidence of me doing a trick in the air from my highest height, yet.
In my high school yearbook, I quoted Helen Keller: "One cannot consent to creep when one has an impulse to soar." Helen Keller knew what she was talking about.
Silks class was so fun yesterday. It was just myself and Lady Bulldozer. Heather asked if I wanted to start putting together sequences for April showcase. All the moves I'm currently working on, like knee hook climbs and inversions in the air will take months and months of strength building before I can perform them. Instead of worrying about that, I decided to get into two footlocks and just start improvising with what I can do. I invented a new kind of "cloud" and a hip key side lean and a new balance. So basically I revolutionized the aerial arts all in one afternoon. Bam! Then Lady Bulldozer and I picked the song for our duet aerial act. I won't tell you what it is, but I will tell you that Brandy and 1998 are making a comeback.
