Last call for Thousands!
This is it guys, one more day for February Thousands! Shoutouts to Tara M who's already over 100% of this month's challenge!
To date we have a total of 11 THOUSAND minutes of exercise, over 6000 belly whooping crunches, nearly 5000 thigh burning squats, more than 3000 plyo jumps, and that's just the tip of the iceburg with you crazy kids.
We have just a little over 24 hours left to go, so make this last day count... and keep your eyes peeled for March Thousands :)

Friday was historical turning point in the Silk Road challenges. I've been practicing tying my footlocks in the air, but I only start from 6 inches off the ground. However, on Friday I gave the silks one climb. And then I thought, "Hey, I'll do another." And since I was already higher, I thought, "Well, I'll just do another." Then I figured I might as well attempt a footlock. And suddenly my foot was tied in the silk, and then I tied my other foot, and then I just kind of stood there, stunned. Heather had been helping another student, and she turned around and said, "I've never seen you that high before!" I imagine it's like when a mother turns their back on their toddler for a second and when they turn back around, the kid is walking! Since I'd already had so much success, I thought I should give my arch-nemesis, the ol' butt over head crossback straddle a go. And suddenly there I was, dangling upside down, and I was really high! And then I remembered I'm scared of heights, but there was no time for that, so I just kept breathing. The scariest part of all was untying my footlocks, and praying my biceps would hold me until I had my feet wrapped back around the silks in the climb position. Here is the photographic evidence of me doing a trick in the air from my highest height, yet.
In my high school yearbook, I quoted Helen Keller: "One cannot consent to creep when one has an impulse to soar." Helen Keller knew what she was talking about.

finally back to the gym. wasn't so into it while I was exercising but right at the end while I was stretching I felt really good. In the afternoon we took the kid to the tallest/longest sledding hill in Montreal. Great views of the city but cold and windy at the top of the hill. We did about 10 trips up and down. Climbing up pulling 2 sleds was tough work.

I was able to climb high on the silks, able to tie my footlocks high, but I did not go upside down. I'm just going to keep repeating this sentence to myself and hope it sticks for next time: "Lead with your twinkle toes. Lead with your twinkle toes."

Buffin & I played "I spy with my little eye" all the pink things in the gym. And he murdered my core with his abs routine, and re-introduced me to my triceps.

wow... i ran 5.7 miles today. outside. at a constant pace. I remember when i could barely make it a mile without stopping.
Also I finished 1000's for the month! I still did some today for strength training, although my arms are sore (!) from moving rocks yesterday. I also remember when I couldn't do pushups at all. Maybe I should try pull ups next?

Catchup for Friday: did cross training and thousands although not at the gym . I had a drink at dinner (work event) but I did order the healthiest thing on the menu (pasta with veggies, broth soup), which I then promptly got crap for... *sigh*. I guess that's why I come to SoWo to get my positive feedback for being healthy. :)

back at the work gym for the usual lunchtime run. It was tough today. I warmed up for 5 min. with jumps, kicks, etc but I didn't really feel warmed up until mile 2 on the dreadmill. Ran the first mile in 11 min. then had to walk for a while. In the end ran/walk 2.8 miles in 36 min.
Over the weekend I was complaining how all my muscles hurt and the man said I should stop working out like a 25-year-old! Some days I feel like maybe he's right, but don't tell him I said that. Advil has become my new drug of choice and that makes me feel old :)

Catchup for saturday (which is still today on the west coast :) )
went for a quick run, followed by thousands and stretching/foam rollering. Did even more strength training by moving rocks in the front yard. Tomorrow is supposed to be a long run again!

Quick run this morning... mostly because I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, so I was hoping the workout would help me go BACK to sleep. Ended up crawling back in bed at 7 and it worked a little too well - woke up late. Oooops.
Still counting the sunrise wakeup though because I was up and did something slightly productive.

OH! And a trip to Facial Spa and lots of cookie baking :)

Today was a rest day from serious workouts, but i did do thousands, and a lot of stairs up and down to count for strength and cardio. I had fruit for breakfast, a whole grain chicken sandwich for lunch, and the last of the homemade bread and fruit for dinner.
For the decluttering, I've been finishing up home projects, so the house feels cleaner and less like an "in-progess" area.
