I'm not good at jumping through my arms in yoga – even with blocks. So I was duly impressed when our instructor Friday jumped through backwards from sitting cross-legged to plank pose in one smooth, beautiful move.
In my experience, yoga instructors might do fancy transition moves but not teach them in "regular" practices. Instead they rely on workshops to teach more difficult maneuvers.
So, I was even more impressed when she broke it down for us so we could try. She did each part slowly and we practice each part before putting them together. I still couldn't do it, but am grateful she showed up step-by-step, and look forward to practicing it in the future.

Boxing boot camp with Steph - this time the class was led by Sarah (who I was buddied up with last week in class, and.... at the time didn't realize she was a trainer. That explains so much). Oh, and final Thousands catchup! Whoo!

A little rowing, boxing boot camp with Christine, a little more rowing, and squeaked out some more Thousands before I had to run off to meet my sister for a day of lobster rolls and movies.

One of my trips yesterday brought to the High St station on the A train. There were 2 escalators going up, 1 going down, and a long staircase (see image-this is almost halfway up) in the middle. No one took the stairs. Except me :)
Yesterday's workout was just BodyArt. I had to skip Spin because I was getting a haircut.

Back at Tula this morning for a hot power flow class. It was only two students including myself, so it was nice. :) Will def be back here if I come to Toronto again for work.
Massive Thousands catchup. I really hate these - I set the goal to keep me on track for the month and I end up with a bunch leftover at the end. Yuck. Ending my night with a few mins of meditation before bed.

We started a new boxing routine that was SO HARD! Ugh. My arms, abs and hip flexors were beyond burning. They just weren't working. I can normally power through and do everything for the full amount of time, even if I have to slow down, but this time I flat out stopped to catch my breath. Wow. But it was such a good class and I felt so loose and happy afterwards. It was exactly the challenge I needed and it provides a good goal/measuring stick to work against.
After class I chatted with the boxing instructor as we ran. I did a smidge over 4 miles.

My back is hurting in a strange spot today. The only thing I did yesterday was running and it could be the pain is from improper form? Don't know. I considered skipping a workout today because of it, but I had my workout clothes with me so I went to the gym and figured if it gets really bad I'll stop. I took Diesel. There were a couple exercises where it was painful but not intense enough for me to leave. So I made it through the class.
Unrelated to my post: When I got to the gym today a guy walked out barefoot. Not vibram barefoot, like for real barefoot. And just continued down Lafayette like that. I wish I could've gotten a picture, but I was on the phone with Dept of Labor dealing with unemployment issues and since it takes forever to get someone on the phone I wasn't going to put them on hold just to get the picture.

So there's this bit in rehearsal where we play beauty pageant, and the director throws three things at us and we have to make a talent act out of them on the spot. Today I got ballet, contortionism & chair dancing. It was rad.

Slow day. Got a deep tissue massage. Along with Steph. Doesn't count as a buddy workout, I guess, but our muscles got worked out...?
PS. I look like an idiot running up and down the stairs in my house.

Rowing this morning was awesome! Three sprints at around 2:09 split without dying. Goal is to increase the number of sprints per session until the whole thing is basically a sprint. I'll get back to you on that in about half a year.
Some more Thousands...

No more baby TRX. Our instructors were all told by management to ramp it up now that they've been working with us for two months. Springing into svelte!

I was lazy and metroed to the gym for TRX and because of track maintance and elevator outages I was almost late to class! Lesson learned -- run to the gym. I ran home though and it was looooovely. Then I took a 2.5 hour nap -- count that!

Eight soaking miles on the treadmill followed by heavy lifting, situps and pushups cranked up my metabolism so high that I was drunk on one beer at dinner. Nice thing about working out so much is I'm a cheap date. ... especially if I am paying my own way. Ha!

I wanted yoga to be really challenging -- full of balancing poses, deep warriors, push ups. I wanted to sweat and learn new poses. But that didn't happen. This was a 100 level yoga class, and I was very disappointed. It was like when you are starving so eat an apple, but instead of making you less hungry it makes you more hungry. Now I am craving a good yoga session.
