Monday morning hill run

So I'm into week three of my half marathon training plan, and I am loving my training schedule. Every Monday morning is a short run, just three miles, but it's a hill run, and the hills get increasingly more difficult every week. I'm not to the point where it's excruciatingly hard yet, but it's definitely tough enough for a Monday morning.

slept-through-the-alarm workout

How did that happen?! I have no idea. When I woke up this morning and realized I was a half an hour behind, I had two choices and I needed to make a split second decision: skip the workout and just get ready for work or BOOK IT to the gym STAT. I booked it to the gym.

Christmas Eve Run Thru the Brambles (and housing developments)

Liz and I got up on Christmas Eve and put on our warmest workout clothes to go for a run.  We're visiting out family in the suburbs of Seattle, so set out with iPhone GPS in hand and aimed for 3 miles.  We ran down the hill and through a new housing development and found a park with a trail--- full of blackberry brambles and hidden puddles.  We ran some more, in and out and final

SW-e-AT Quads: to the point

15 mins on stationary bike (level 10, apline trail program), 3 sets of 15 olympic squats on bosu with 18-lb body bar, 7 mins treadmill (speed 6.0, hill program, level 10), 3 sets of 15 olympic squats, 4 mins bike, 3 sets of squats, 8 mins treadmill. 3 mins cooldown, then stretching. All quads all the time.

Up in the Hills

The great thing about living in Blenheim (NZ) is that the great outdoors is never very far away. On Saturday after a pretty lazy morning, I went for a 40 minute walk in the Wither Hills farm park. 20 minutes up, 20 minutes down. Great for stretching out the hammies after yoga on Thursday! Not the longest walk in the world but hard work into the wind!
