I first turned to belly dancing to mend a broken heart. This actually had a counterproductive effect — after class I would feel all sexy and hip-rolley and realize I had no one at home to try out my awesome moves on. Eventually with time and a rebound or two my sorrow dissipated, but my love of belly dance, and later Bollywood and Bhangra, stayed strong. Dance Workout - fun!
So I got bored and tried a belly dance workout routine off youtube, and surprisingly, it wasn't bad. It was great cardio and especially good on my calf muscles, which I think don't get as much focus as thighs and glutes in most workout routines. It was half an hour total and I'm actually inclined to buy a workout video now.
Just the motivation I need!!
I've been on the track to a healthier mind and body slowly for the past probably 7 years (like I said slowely! :D) Over the years I've gone from about 180 to my current weight at about 140...
